Mr. Sheldon Hammond has a long career of Agricultural and Natural Resource education and personnel management experience. Most recently, he retired from the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension after a 32-year career as a Senior Public Service Associate faculty member. He was the NW District Extension Director of the UGA Cooperative Extension where he led and managed 300 employees in Agricultural and Natural Resources, 4-H and Youth Development, and Family and Consumer Sciences educational outreach programming with a budget of over $10 million in 39 Georgia Counties. During his tenure as a faculty member with the University of Georgia, Mr. Hammond developed a national reputation for his work with urban forestry and volunteer management as a County Extension Agent. He also served as the NW District Agricultural Natural Resources (ANR) Program Development Coordinator where he facilitated ANR educational programing in 39 Georgia counties for 46 UGA faculty and staff. Early in his career, he served as a Forester for the Florida Division of Forestry, as well as a Consulting Arborist in the State of Tennessee. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry and Purdue University with a Master’s degree in Forest Engineering. Mr. Hammond is also a graduate of the prestigious UGA Vivian H. Fisher Leadership Academy.
