The property is located in Boone County, Columbia, Missouri.The property is a ten-story commercial building just north of the campus of the University of Missouri and contributing structure to the Downtown Columbia Historic District.It is also known as the Tiger Hotel and is a prominent structure within the central business district of the city of Columbia. The property’s building was completed in 1928 by Simon Construction Company and designed by Alonzo H. Gentry. The building retains its original exterior, displaying red brick face and cream-colored terracotta on the entirety of the first floor. The building spans its largest area on the first and second floor which measures 100 feet by 102 feet and 3 inches. The six central windows of the first floor above the building entrance are decorated with terra cotta keystones, a lady’s head motif, and scrolled buttresses. Large terracotta urns top the hotel’s attic story.
The conservation easement will prohibit activities which are inconsistent with the goal of ensuring that the property will be retained forever. Implementation of the conservation easement will ensure the protection of historic values that the building contributes to the historic district.
